Getting started
How do I book my first consultation?
Pick a specialist from the Doctors page, click Book Now, choose a date and time slot, enter your details, optionally upload any relevant reports, and confirm payment. You will get a confirmation email with the video consultation link.
Do I need to register before booking?
No — you can book as a guest. Registering lets you re-use your details, track past consultations, and securely store your reports.
Which countries can I book from?
MediGo Lanka is built for the UK Sri Lankan diaspora, but the service is available globally. Pricing is in GBP for everyone.
Doctors & consultations
How are doctors verified?
Every clinician on MediGo Lanka is verified against the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) register before they go live. We also check qualifications and hospital affiliation.
What languages do doctors speak?
All listed doctors speak English. Sinhala and Tamil-speaking doctors are filterable on the Doctors page.
Can the doctor prescribe medication?
Yes, doctors can issue a Sri Lankan prescription that can be filled at any SL pharmacy. Cross-border UK prescriptions are not currently supported — see Inquiries for medication availability questions.
What happens if I miss the consultation?
Missed appointments are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, do so at least 6 hours in advance from your dashboard.
Payments & pricing
How much does a consultation cost?
General Practice consultations start at £30. Specialist consultations are typically £40–£55 depending on the doctor and specialty. See the Pricing page for full details.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major UK credit and debit cards processed securely via Stripe. Card details are never stored on our servers.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment for a full refund. No-shows are non-refundable.
Are prices in GBP or LKR?
All consultation fees are quoted and charged in GBP. Doctors receive payouts in LKR via our payment provider.
Reports & privacy
Is my medical data secure?
Yes — all reports are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Files are stored under UK GDPR rules with strict access controls and audit logs retained for 7 years.
Who can see my uploaded reports?
Only the doctor you explicitly share them with, plus a small group of authorised MediGo Lanka staff for support purposes. We do not sell or share data with third parties.
How long are records kept?
Consultation records and clinical notes are retained for 10 years under UK and Sri Lankan medical record-keeping requirements. You can request deletion in line with UK GDPR Article 17.
Inquiry service
What is the inquiry service?
A free service that lets you ask about lab test prices, procedure costs, medication availability, or get a second opinion — without booking a full consultation. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
Is the inquiry service free?
Yes — inquiries are free. We may suggest booking a full consultation if your question needs detailed medical advice.
